Guarantee Policy

Pitstop guarantees products supplied and fitted by us against faulty workmanship or defective materials. Guarantees apply from the date of initial installation unless stated otherwise.

Exhaust Systems

Mild steel: 12 months (non-transferable — applies only while the named vehicle is owned by the original client for whom the exhaust system component was installed)
Stainless steel: 60 months (non-transferable — applies only while the named vehicle is owned by the original client for whom the exhaust system component was installed)
Exhaust accessories (e.g. gaskets, clamps) and sundry work (e.g. welds): No guarantee

Shock Absorbers

Shock absorbers: As per individual manufacturer's warranty
Shock mountings: 6 months

If a lowering kit is fitted or vehicle suspension has been lowered, this guarantee is null and void. Only parts are covered — labour and fitting charges are for the customer's account. Any item damaged by a faulty shock is not covered.

Batteries

As per individual manufacturer's warranty

Batteries cannot be exchanged and must be returned to the manufacturer for inspection and testing.

CV Joints

CV joints: As per individual manufacturer's warranty
Reconditioned CV shafts: 12 months

This guarantee is null and void if CV boots are cracked/torn, straps come loose or break, or if the vehicle is not brought in for quarterly inspections at any of our depots. Quarterly inspections are required to keep this guarantee valid.

Towbars

Lifetime warranty (non-transferable — applies only while the named vehicle is owned by the original client for whom the towbar was installed)

New Tyres

60 months from date of manufacture

N.B. Manufacturers do not honour claims if new valves are not fitted to new tyres. New tyres are guaranteed by the manufacturer, not by the distributor, and cannot be exchanged. All tyres must be returned to the manufacturer for inspection and a claim report. The guarantee covers manufacturing defects only, not accidental damage (e.g. driver error or road hazards). The guarantee is on a pro-rata basis: only the amount of usable tread left on the tyre will be compensated for. Usable tread is original tread depth less 2mm. Cost of fitting, balancing, etc., is excluded.

Wheel Alignment & Balancing

Cannot be guaranteed as this depends on road conditions and driving style. Every claim will be individually considered.

Wheel Bearings, Brake Pads, Brake Discs, Mechanical Repairs & Sundry Work

Guaranteed for 3 months (parts only). Labour costs for replacement of defective parts are for the customer's account.

Parts are guaranteed by the manufacturer, not the distributor, and cannot be exchanged on site. Parts must be returned to the manufacturer for examination.

Legal Provision

The parties consent to the jurisdiction of the Magistrates Court in terms of Section 45 of the Magistrates Court Act 32 of 1944 for any action or proceedings arising out of this agreement.

Conditions of Guarantee

Risk in any goods supplied by Pitstop passes to the customer on delivery.
Any work carried out at Pitstop must be documented (job card completed by customer and invoiced before leaving the store).
Any vehicle or goods not collected within 3 months will be sold to defray expenses.
The vehicle must be returned to a Pitstop depot that carries out the same work as reflected on the invoice.
We undertake to dismantle, repair or replace defective parts and re-assemble them on the vehicle. Labour costs are for the customer's account. This guarantee becomes null and void if failure is caused by impact, misuse, or a fault within the vehicle. This guarantee replaces and excludes all other warranties, whether expressed or implied by law or statute.
Parts and repairs covered under this guarantee may not be repaired at any other fitment centre or workshop outside the greater Cape Town metropolitan area without prior written consent of Pitstop. Any work carried out elsewhere, or towing of the customer's vehicle, without written consent of Pitstop, will be for the customer's own account and risk.
